CSS Versicherungen contents and personal liability insurance
Deductibles
The deductible is generally CHF 200; CHF 500 for natural hazards. For mobile phone repair costs up to CHF 300, the deductible is CHF 100.
Other points to note
All CSS customers receive a discount of 10%.
- CSS offers a 10% discount to customers that are still under the age of 26 at the time of contract conclusion.
- CSS offers an annual long-term contract discount of 3% to customers with a 3-year contract, and 5% to those with a 5-year contract.
- CSS offers a no-claims bonus of 10% after 3 consecutive claim-free years of insurance, in which it was not required to pay any benefits, up to a maximum of 30% after 8 consecutive claim-free years. This bonus is also offered to customers that were given a corresponding no-claims bonus by their previous insurer. For this, a written confirmation from the previous insurer is required.

- Misuse and blocking service for customer, credit, bank, post office and SIM cards (monetary loss up to CHF 6,000 caused by the misuse of these cards; a free card blocking service is also offered)
- Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions (damage to, destruction of or loss of items from the insured home contents in Switzerland caused suddenly and unexpectedly by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions)
- Increased jewellery cover (increase to the basic insurance limit of a further CHF 20,000 or CHF 40,000)

Conditions applying to third-party vehicles
- Included in basic cover: bonus loss and deductible (if any) in liability insurance for damage caused by the use of third-party vehicles.
- Optional supplementary insurance: damage to third-party vehicles (cars, motorcycles and delivery vans up to a total weight of 3.5 tons).
- Damage is only covered if it occurs in Switzerland or a bordering country (Principality of Liechtenstein, Germany, France, Italy or Austria).
Conditions applying to property
- Insured liability is limited to one owner-occupied property containing no more than 3 apartments, one holiday home and one unregistered mobile home in a permanent location.
- Liability claims resulting from condominium ownership are also covered as a complement to the homeowner association's existing property liability insurance.
- Liability cover for builder-owners is included for renovations up to a sum of CHF 100,000.
Cover for children
Cover generally provided for damage caused by children and other household members who are under age, have been declared incompetent or lack mental capacity, including children being looked after (free of charge), and including those who are only staying temporarily with the insured person.
Extent of cover
- Cover for damage caused by children and other household members lacking mental capacity is limited to CHF 200,000.
- Damage arising from a secondary occupation is covered if the income is less than CHF 18,000 per year.
- Damage caused by sportsmen and sportswomen during the sporting activity is also covered (excluding legal liability) up to CHF 2,000.
- Damage to property caused by pets is also covered (excluding legal liability) up to CHF 2,000.
Deductibles
- The deductible is generally CHF 200.
- In the case of end-of-tenancy claims, the deductible is deducted once in each case.
- In the case of damage caused by driving a third-party vehicle, the deductible is 10% per claim, and a minimum of CHF 500. The same deductible applies to damage arising from the hiring or borrowing of horses owned by third parties.
